Vans Warped Tour 2012

What can you expect at Vans Warped tour 2012 ?

Expect a lot of music, and mind blowing stunts! Along with a lot of heat, and lots of people- it’s fun, but it’s not easy. It is a complete entertainment package for days, but only if you are truly prepared for it. It has a cheerful environment, with loads of tents that sell music and other merchandise. The stages are planned carefully, so that music from your stage does not mix with the music from other stages.

Expect a big mix of British, American, and other bands, including Christian rock, metal core, hardcore, post hardcore, emo, rock, alternative rock, electronica, street punk, pop punk, skate punk, and much more.

When you enter the tour, you will see a huge board that will display the timetable for the day- which band is playing where, and when. Make sure you take a note of it.

Expect a lot of running around, and dehydration (if you are not careful). If you are going to scream sing for the entire day, make sure a bottle of water is handy. Also, expect a lot of noise, as there will be people standing really close to you, and singing with the band.

Also expect a lot of ‘green’ stuff. The buses run with biodiesel, and stages are set up using solar power. Dishes are washable, and made of biodegradable plastic.

The Vans Warped Tour is basically a blend of stunts and music, so expect a LOT of thrill!

It is not just any concert- it is the concert of a lifetime.

Vans Warped Tour Concert going basics

Are you going to Vans Warped Tour, or for that matter- any concert, for the first time? Read on as we present some simple tips to help you survive the Warped Tour.

Rock music concerts are pure pleasure- you jump, you swing and you sway. Feeling a wave of energy? Start scream singing with the band. You can even become a crowd surfer! It is totally fun. Let’s look at some tips for first time concert goers.

1. Bring some ear plugs. Sometimes, the music starts to roar, and it’s hard to enjoy it, with the roaring noise. Ear plugs would come in handy, especially when you do not want to listen to the drunk guy next to you, sing with the band. Besides, if you are going to a concert for the first time, chances are that your ears are not ready for loud music. If you do not take ear plugs, your ears might be ringing for the next 2 days

2. Stay away from overly enthusiastic fans. They will be everywhere. They’ll be the one rocking in frenzy. Steer clear of them. No, they don’t want to hit you, but just in case you get in their movement, you can be injured- so stay away.

3. Do not select a crowded place. If you haven’t been to a punk music concert before, you do not know about elbow-to-face. It’s basically someone else’s elbow to your face. With such heavy gatherings, it’s hard to avoid being popped in the face. People are swaying in the music, and you can easily get the taste of someone’s elbow, or even get people’s feet on your own. So stay a bit away from the crowd. Staying away will also help you take bathroom breaks more easily.

4. Moshing. If you do not know how to mosh, stay away from it. First time concert goers generally do not know a lot about moshing. If you do participate in moshing, make sure you do not hurt anyone. There are certain unspoken moshing etiquettes that you have to follow. Do not try to purposely hurt someone.

5. Do not stand too close to the speakers or you will have ringing ears. If you have sensitive ears, you might even go deaf! Make sure you maintain safe distance between the speakers and you.

Vans Warped Tour Survival

Going to this concert requires some survival tactics, and if you don’t have them, it is better you get equipped now. You need to be prepared in advance before you attend this concert.

There are going to be lots of bands, and lots of fans. It’s going to be hot, and it can get wet.

Are you prepared with the right stuff? Do you have what it takes to survive the Vans Warped Tour? Many people come up with music in mind, and end up at the medical tents. Are you a softie, or a hard core punk music freak?

Learn the survival now to be the fittest of the pack.

Survival Gear- Fitting in

Vans Warped Tour is unlike any other music concert. It is in the open, with thousands of people around. If you do not want to miss out on the fun, there are certain survival ‘tools’ that you need to pack before leaving your home for the most popular event of the year.

1. Water

If you do not want to end up in the medical tent- all exhausted due to the heat, make sure you keep a bottle of water with you. Though you can get bottled water from the stalls at the tour too, but the lines to those can be long. If you want your own water at your own convenience, make sure you keep it with you.

Your stuff is checked due to security reasons, but they mostly allow a sealed bottle of water, though they do take the cap off- in case you were planning to use it as a projectile. Because only on bottle is allowed, make sure you keep a big one.

2. Sunscreen

Vans Warped Tour is in the open, and so there is a lot of heat and sun involved. To avoid getting sun burns, you should pack a good sunscreen. Make sure you apply sunscreen before leaving the house, and pack a tube in your back pack, which brings us to the next point.

3. Backpack

All your other gear will go in your backpack. Apart from that, you will be tempted to buy a lot of things at the concert, and those things will find their place in the backpack too. You will collect lots of flyers and stickers through the day, and a bag would be ideal for keeping them. Take care that you don’t buy unnecessary stuff, as it means more luggage for you. Also, when you come to the concert, your bag will be checked, so do not keep anything that might stop you from getting in.

4. Comfortable Shoes

Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, as you will be running around all day. Your shoes should be able to support the running around part. If possible, you should wear good sports shoes, as they have special features to prevent tiredness.

5. Comfortable clothes

Same goes with your clothes. Dress practically as you would be running around all day. Wearing high fashion uncomfortable clothes is not going to help. A simple T-shirt and jeans or shorts would suit the occasion. Also, be ready to run around in the sand and mud. In case of rain, there can be mud involved.

6. Raincoats

You cannot control the weather- if there is rain, you should be prepared. Umbrellas are not helpful, as they are not allowed inside the concert. But you can bring plastic ponchos. They can cover you from rain, while you scream sing with the band.

7. Camera

If you want to show your friends that you attended the latest Vans Warped Tour, make sure you pack a disposable camera in your backpack. You might meet your favorite artist, and you should be ready to snap a picture of them. It would be the best souvenir.

8. Pen and notepad

As you enter the venue, you will notice a big board, which will list the band’s name, and the stage they would be performing on. Because there will be many stages set up at the venue, it would be difficult to remember exactly which band is playing when and where. With a pen and notepad in your hand, you can plan your schedule, so that you do not miss out a must-see performance. However, sometimes you need to make a choice, when two of your favorite bands are playing simultaneously on different stages.

9. Marker

If you get a chance to meet your favorite band, you would definitely want their autograph. That pen you kept in your backpack would come in handy. If you want a bold autograph, you can also go for a marker. Markers go fine if you want the autograph on your arm.

10. Cap

Not exactly necessary, but it will keep you protected from sun. As you will have to run around in rain or sun, a cap could prove to be a good idea.

11. Toilet paper

With thousands of people assembled at one place, the toilet scene is not going to be a pretty one. You need to close your eyes while visiting the washrooms. And that toilet paper roll will seem really precious once you visit the stalls. Make sure you keep a couple of rolls.

What not to bring

There are many things that are not allowed inside the Vans Warped Tour venue. Make sure you do not have the things that might stop you from entering the concert, or anything that might get stolen or lost.

Recording devices
Professional cameras
Chains
Purse
Credit card
iPods or MP3 players
Firearms, knives, or other weapons
Any illegal materials. Say no to drugs.
Other things that might get lost

Also, make sure you do not pack fragile items, as they might break.

The Dos and Don’ts of Survival

If you are coming to the world famous concert for the first time, here are some handy dos and don’ts:

Do

1. Come early

If you arrive early, you will get a lot of time to note down the band’s schedules, and devise a day plan for yourself. As there are multiple stages, there will be many bands playing, and you need to make a schedule before starting to enjoy the music. Coming early will give you enough time to plan a schedule for yourself.

2. Locate the medical camps

Make sure you know the location of medical camps, as you might need their services. It’s always better to be safe. Keep their location in mind.

3. See at least two new bands

The Vans Warped Tour is the right place to expand your horizons. Make sure you visit at least two bands you’ve never heard of before. They might become your next favorite bands.

4. Take breaks

You would need to take breaks if you do not want to end up completely exhausted. Breaks will help you revive your energy. Make sure you keep eating light snacks throughout the day, as you will need that energy.

5. Look for crowd surfers

It’s a fun thing, and you can see it only at big concerts. Let out a hand for the crowd surfers, and make sure they don’t fall. Also, make sure the crowd surfer doesn’t tear away your shirt from your shoulder.

6. Drop your parents are reverse day care

The Reverse Day Care tent is excellent to leave your parents for the day while you go and enjoy. Your parents can stay there, and at the end of the day, you can leave the concert venue with them.

7. Set up a meeting point

If you are coming with your friends, make sure you decide on one meeting point where you can meet for food, or at the end of the day.

8. Look for drinking fountain

Your one bottle of water will end up soon. Make sure you fill it up at the drinking fountains, so that you have your supply of water.

9. Bring money

Money would be required to buy souvenirs, snacks and beverages. So make sure you come with money. Also, make sure you do not keep it all in one place, as your pocket might get picked while you are rocking senseless in music. So be careful with your money.

Don’t

1. Make fun

Make sure you understand that your taste in music is not universal. There are people who prefer other bands as well. If you do not like the performance of a particular band, do not make fun of the people who are listening to that music. Everyone has a different musical preference, and some people might think your favorite band is not so cool either.

2. Be upset

Though it is advised not to make fun of people listening to other bands, some people may not be considerate enough, and might make fun of you, because of your music preference. Do not be upset at that. Be cool, and let it be. You know your band is the best, and that is what’s important.

3. Spend all your energy

Do not spend all your energy early during the day. Keep it safe, as there is lot of running to be done all day long. If you get tired early on, you are sure to miss out a lot of fun later.

4. Forget sunscreen

Apply sunscreen when you leave home, and keep applying it after some time- especially on your tattoos. The skin at your tattoos is sensitive, and thus reacts to heat faster than skin at other parts of the body. Make sure you keep the sunscreen supply high.

5. Dehydrate

You got the water bottle, right? If you feel thirsty, take a quick gulp. Do not ignore any dehydration signs. If you do not keep yourself hydrated, you might end up tired and broken, and in the medical camp.

6. Complain

This is one very important point. Hopefully you know what you are going to face at the Vans Warped Tour. It’s all in the open. It is going to be hot in the sun, and wet in the rain. If you are going to complain about the situation, it is not going to help. Expect a lot of roughness at the concert.

7. Consume alcohol

You have just one bottle of water, and whole day to pull. The stalls are packed, and if you want another bottle of water, you will have to wait in lines. So make sure you do not dehydrate yourself further by consuming alcohol. All alcoholic beverages will make you feel thirstier. Also, don’t do drugs. Illegal things can get you arrested. You can even get arrested for just holding a packet of those illegal things!

8. Avoid food

You need to fill up if you want to run around. Sure the food might be expensive, or the lines might be long. But if you really want to enjoy, you need to be energized. Going empty stomach would make you feel hungry, and you wouldn’t enjoy the concert to the full, and get tired faster. Remember, the Vans Warped Tour happens just once a year.

9. Get mixed up in the crowd

If you are coming with your group, you can easily get lost in the crowd. Do not abandon anyone from your group, and make sure you decide on a common meeting point. Else there will be a lot of extra running around, which you might not be able to do, as you would be tired at the end of the day.

In the end, don’t forget to have fun! Rules are good, and should be followed, but the number one rule of Vans Warped Tour is to have fun.
